Event Description

Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity is a revival of spirit. This holiday season, the Access Unity and Development Collective (AUD) invites you into a transformative celebration where gospel music, dance, and poetry converge to tell the timeless story of the Nativity through the heart and voice of the Black experience.

Under the co-direction of Cleavon Meabon, IV (Executive Producer) and Justin Allen Tate, with musical direction by Ashley K. Davis and choreography by Emma Crystal, this Memphis production embodies the city’s legendary gospel roots and vibrant artistry. Audiences will be lifted by powerful vocals, inspired choreography, and a deeply spiritual atmosphere that fills the sanctuary with joy and reflection.

Black Nativity is a call to remember, rejoice, and rise — a radiant expression of community, faith, and the enduring beauty of Black storytelling.
